This is my 24th autumn in Florida and it still catches me by surprise: the early dying of the light. All day it's hot and sticky - just like summer - and then, during dinner, I look out the window and it's already night. How did that happen? I step outside - sometimes go for a swim - and it's still warm. Warm and dark. After nearly a quarter of a century, it still doesn't compute.
