I drove down to Miami on Tuesday to attend Seatrade (photos on Instagram) and one of the most interesting people I spoke to was a Miami harbor pilot who told me, if I understood him correctly, that harbor pilots do not actually steer the ships, but give precise verbal instructions to the captains who do.
