I was talking to my musical critic friend last night who mentioned a musician who, he said, was giving a concert at Carnegie Hall. I was impressed, until my friend told me that the musician was renting the hall. "It's kind of a vanity thing," he said. "You pay, and then you can say you played at Carnegie Hall." Still, you have to have talent, unlike, say, some self-published authors.
