I knew it would be a tough drive down to Trinity Cathedral on Christmas Eve without a classical music station - no unknown Catalan carols, no Swedish choirs to soothe me after nearly getting side-swiped - but I had no idea just how tough until, after tiring of "Jingle Bell Rock" and "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" on the oldies station, I turned to the Christian music station, the one that replaced the classical station, and heard "Silver Bells." For Christmas, even the religious station had gone secular. On the drive home I kept the radio off and sang.
