Jim Shepard spoke at Books & Books last night - actually, he was in the Coral Gables Museum next door - and, after talking about and reading from his latest novel, The Book of Aron, he talked about his upcoming collection of short stories, at least one of which apparently has political significance.
"I don't know what's more quixotic than writing short stories to effect political change," he noted. He thought briefly and then said: "Writing haiku."
