The bluesman wanted to give me a copy of his book so he took out his pen to sign it. In the middle of the second word the ink ran out. He extracted his cigarette lighter and put the flame to the tip. The ink flowed for the next two letters. He burned the tip of the pen again. It wrote another letter before drying up. Out came the lighter again. The bluesman repeated the process until he had written his name. I have quite a few autographed books in my possession, but none that were signed so perseveringly.
