Tuesday afternoon I was standing across the street from Tobacco Road, taking a picture of the facade, when a construction worker walked by, stopped, and asked if I wanted him to take my picture in front of the famous bar.
A few hours later, on Lincoln Road, I took the elevator up to Juvia, the rooftop restaurant with one of the finest outdoor views of Miami Beach. Three lovely hostesses at the entrance greeted me warmly. I asked them if I could just have a look around, and they said of course, and welcomed me in as if I'd arrived with a party of six.
