I recently drove to North Lauderdale to get some things at Krakus Polish Deli (kabanosy, pyzy, bilberry syrup). Needing a few more mundane groceries, I stopped into Sedano's in the same plaza.

This was my first visit to a Sedano's, and I was surprised to find everyone speaking Spanish. (There are truly two worlds in South Florida: one speaking Spanish, the other speaking English.)

"Buenos tardes caballero," the cashier greeted me. I had never felt so distinguished in a check-out line.
