Pulled out of River Reach yesterday morning and sat at the light at Davie Boulevard. As soon as the green arrow appeared, the man in the pickup behind me beeped for me to go. I raised my hands, in an exasperated "what's your rush?" gesture. Once on the boulevard he roared past me and two blocks down I got my answer, as he made a sharp turn into Qwik Stop.

We petted the rabbits and bought brown eggs at Marando Farms and then headed to Las Olas to get ciabattini at Gran Forno. Turning onto SE 13th Ave., I saw that the first metered space was empty. So I drove a few yards and made a U-turn. (The city was busy because of its 100th anniversary celebration.) Coming back I met a large black SUV attempting a K-turn, its front end inches from the parking meter. I pulled into the space as far as I could go, creating a standoff. The driver of the SUV refused to relinquish the space, even though he was coming at it from the wrong direction. Hania got out to talk to him, but he refused to roll down his tinted window. After a few minutes he finally gave up. (Cars turning off of Las Olas were having trouble getting past him.) Driving off slowly, he rolled down his window and spat at me.

It was not a well-aimed luger but a many-pointed spray that shown white against the blackness of his vehicle. I sat stunned; I had never been spat at before. Only later did I realize how lucky I was that it was saliva and not a bullet he'd aimed at me.

Amazing! This blog looks exactly like my old one! It’s on a entirely different topic but it has pretty much the same layout and design. Wonderful choice of colors!
