You suffer under the title of "the worst drivers in the country" - a designation that, as someone who travels a fair amount, I would have to agree with - and yet another year has passed without one of you hitting me.

To take the car out in South Florida, and to return it unmarked, is in itself a minor miracle; ending an entire year unscathed calls for a bottle of Veuve Clicquot.

I haven't always been happy with your driving. Tip to people on 95 who insist on driving 55 while talking on the phone: Move out of the passing lanes. (Though that raises the philosophical question: What in our section of I-95 constitutes a passing lane?) And I haven't always been the best driver myself. But for 12 months - which included probably a hundred trips to Miami - I never experienced an exchange of metal, paint, names, addresses. Everyone miraculously kept their distance.

So here's to another fine year of anonymous driving! And may we all remain strangers in 2010!
