out of Denmark

Isak Dinesen was born on this day in 1885 in Rungsted, Denmark. "I had a farm in Africa, at the foot of the Ngong Hills," she wrote at the beginning of her travel classic Out of Africa.

My favorite quote of Dinesen's I read not in a book but on a T-shirt. I was in Bonaire, having breakfast at a place full of divers. (Which in Bonaire could have been any place.) A young man walked by with a plate of eggs and as he passed I made out the writing on his back: "The cure for anything is salt water - tears, sweat or the sea - Isak Dinesen." You never know where you're going to find literature. I not only put the quote in my story, I used part of it as my title: "The Cure for Anything."

I have never heard of Isak Dinesen, but the “cure for anything” quote is amazing. I am somewhat of a quote “collector” writing down those that strike a cord, and this one is definitely going in. In fact I will probably be using it a lot, because it is so fabulous.

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know a lot about this, like you wrote the book in it or something.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune.

If only more homeowners could understand the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Every year over twenty people are killed by carbon monoxide leaking from faulty boilers and many hundreds more suffer ill health because
of it.

Why not promote a local enterprise by utilising a
nearby ‘man and his van’ to shift our weighty items.

Amazing blog! Do you have any recommendations for aspiring writers?
I’m planning to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything.

Would you advise starting with a free platform like Wordpress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m totally overwhelmed ..
Any ideas? Many thanks!

Hey there! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website?
I’m getting fed up of Wordpress because I’ve had problems with
hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform.
I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.

Good day! Do you know if they make any plugins to protect against hackers?

I’m kinda paranoid about losing everything I’ve worked hard on. Any suggestions?

When I initially commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get three e-mails with the same comment.
Is there any way you can remove people from that service?
Bless you!
