This election has succeeded in finally making me feel, after 31 years, like a Floridian, as I’m taking the attacks on Florida personally. No place is a monolith, and yet even people who should know better – like some travel writers – are once again denouncing the entire state. Yesterday I received a rejection of something I’d written about my home that included the line, “Plus, I think everyone’s fed up with Florida right now.”
The nice thing about getting a flu shot is that if you wake up the next morning feeling a little off you can rest assured that it's not Covid. At least I hope it's not Covid.
Friday the cleaning ladies left about 40 minutes before the neighbors arrived for dinner - takeout from Bombay Cafe. In the interim, wiping the wine glasses and preparing the snacks - separate bowls for the dips, separate bowls for the crackers - I said to Hania: "I didn't clean and I didn't cook and I'm still exhausted." And I thought: If I'm this out of shape entertaining, what's it going to be like when I start traveling?
