Amazing what can happen when you go away for three weeks.
I came back last week and learned that Hialeah Race Course was opening again. When I was a boy growing up in New Jersey we received a postcard from someone who had visited the track, and I was mesmerized by the infield of pink flamingos. Saturday I almost went down for opening day, but decided I'd wait until they finished the grandstand.
Then today in the Herald I read that Coconut Grove Playhouse is going to come back to life. In a bigger, more modern building, but the historic name - this is the theater where Waiting for Godot had its premier - will continue.
Now if someone could find a way to bring back spring training.
